We just wrapped up Harbour Party 2024 and it was an absolute blast! Find out why Luna Park Sydney is the best place to watch Sydney's Harbour's Iconic fireworks!
New Year’s Eve at Luna Park this year celebrated not just the new year of 2025, but the year we enter Luna Park’s 90th birthday celebrations. It also marks the quarter century since Luna Park was reopened to celebrate the year 2000. On December 31, 1999, while everyone else around the world was worrying about Y2K and what it might do to our computers, Sydneysiders were celebrating on their favourite rides and at Coney Island, when the park was opened especially for the first New Year’s Eve party in four years. It had been closed since February 1996, but new owners Metro Edgley breathed new life into the historic amusement park and reopened it just for December 31, 1999. It was the party of the century as Sydney celebrated entering the year it hosted the 2000 Olympics. Since it opened in 1935, Luna Park has always been a popular place to see in the New Year. Our harbourside park boasts (what we believe to be) Sydney’s best view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks from the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Were you at Luna Park a quarter of a century ago to celebrate the year 2000? If so let us know.
This fun fact is brought to you by our author-in-residence Helen Pitt who is writing a book about Luna Park Sydney to be released for our 90th birthday celebrations this year! Harbour Party Crowd & Fireworks 2004
Since reopening in 2004, we have been hosting our famous Harbour Party event. Featuring incredible musical lineups and DJs all night long, we are definitely the most fun spot to view the fireworks. Every year the event just gets better and better and 2024 was no different:
DJ Lineup - This year we had DJs across 2 stages throughout the night. One in our Immersive Big Top so you could feel like you were in the night sky or in a jungle throughout the sets, as well as Midway stage, what could be cooler than dancing with the iconic background of our heritage listed funhouse Coney Island?
Unlimited Rides - Everyone gets unlimited rides throughout the evening. Yes that means rollercoaster rides, swinging 360° on Sledgehammer, and getting extraordinary Harbour views at the top of our Ferris Wheel.
Fireworks - We have one of the best views in Sydney of the iconic NYE fireworks! You can even upgrade to one of our VIP packages to secure a special viewing area as well as a food and beverage package.
